You might expect January to be a gloomy month here in NY, what with the weather usually plunging into an unpredictable pattern of snowy possibility. Thankfully, there's never a dull moment with music on the horizon. This year I'm so grateful that I get to kick off January learning some new Elvis tunes for the upcoming Vendetta's show. Ever since I was a feathered haired teenager in a fleece lined denim Levi's jacket growing up in Echo Park I had a major crush on Elvis. I had a little black & white tv (the envy of all my friends) in my bedroom, and I'd sit on my super cool waterbed watching Elvis reruns while I did my homework or talked on the phone with my best friend, who also was crushing on Elvis. Even on my little screen he seemed larger than life. His songs are as timeless and iconic to me today as they were back then. So I'm really looking forward to the upcoming Vendetta's "Elvis Lives" show. I've gotten to play a bunch of Elvis songs this past year with them and there are some new ones I get to dive into. Can't wait!!
